Upgrading the steam distribution grid – further steps towards energy efficiency

Scope of the project

We have completed a project for upgrading the LP (0.6 MPa) steam distribution grid. The works covered replacement of selected sections of the pipelines made in traditional technology with state-of-the-art pre-insulated pipes, to provide for a significant reduction of in-transfer heat waste.

Energy savings and environmental outcomes

The project will generate estimated average annual final energy savings of approx. 28,000 GJ/year, or 675.6 toe. This high improvement in energy efficiency will further trigger a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, with CO₂ emissions lower by 1,726.2 tonnes per year.

Sustainability and operations efficiency

The steam grid upgrade project fits into our sustainable development strategy. Investment in advanced technologies for the transfer of utilities not only reduces our carbon footprint but also brings the reliability and efficiency of production processes to the next level.
